RARA SCAMP

RARA SCAMP is a summer camp for persons with special needs, ages 5-27, that are successful in a 3:1 camper staff ratio.

Campers will enjoy the kind of recreational activities, field trips and events that are routinely available to children without special needs. Participants are primarily from Rochester and Rochester Hills. SCAMP is staffed by teachers, parapros, college and high school students and volunteers.

Actual tuition is $1400 per camper, but we are able to offer SCAMP for $700, thanks to the fundraising efforts of RARA and SCAMP parents. The remaining cost of camp is provided by generous yearly sponsors including West Middle School Students, Van Hoosen Middle School Students, Hart Middle School Students, Whole Foods Market, River Crest Banquet Center, Rochester Kiwanis and the Rochester Area Knights of Columbus.

RARA SCAMP WINE TASTING

“A Taste of Spring”, the annual wine tasting to benefit RARA SCAMP, will be held on Friday, April 25 , 2008 from 7 – 9 pm at the River Crest Banquet Center. You will experience a variety of wines from around the world and all natural, gourmet hors d’oeuvres courtesy of Whole Foods Markets. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. You can purchase tickets at the RARA office or the Rochester Hills Whole Foods location. ”A Taste of Spring” is sponsored by River Crest Banquet Center, Whole Foods Market and Rochester Kiwanis. WADDLE, WADDLE, QUACK, QUACK! RUBBER DUCKY RACE!

Don’t forget to buy your family some rubber duckies for the 2008 annual Heritage Festival Rubber Ducky Race to benefit RARA SCAMP – a local summer camp for students with special needs. Ducks are $3 each or 2 for $5. Ducks will race down the Paint Creek at 3:00 pm on Sunday, May 25 at the Heritage Festival in Rochester Municipal Park. Top 20 finishers win prizes!
