What is the iPlay@RARA Scholarship Fund?

RARA is proud to offer scholarships to help our residents participate in recreational programs and activities that enhance camaraderie, culture, and well-being for all.

How do I Apply for the iPlay@RARA Scholarship Fund?

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must be a resident of the communities served by our recreation authority. Additionally, you must demonstrate financial need by providing information about your income and household expenses. We understand that circumstances may vary from one household to another, and we encourage all residents to apply regardless of their financial situation. The following criteria must be met:
  • Minimum one year of residency in the Rochester, Rochester Hills, OR enrolled in Rochester or Avondale Community Schools.
  • Driver’s license, state identification, property tax statement, water bill  or school enrollment forms.
  • Submit proof of income – W2 form or proof of free or reduced lunch program
  • If applicable: unemployment, child support, social security, ADCF
To ensure that the scholarship funds are distributed fairly and equitably, we require all applicants to provide accurate and complete information about their financial status. This includes documentation such as tax returns, pay stubs, and other relevant financial records. The scholarship may be rescinded and restitution of any fees paid if scholarship information is falsified. Verifying information should be brought into RARA for confirmation and not uploaded in this form.

The maximum allowable scholarship is 90 percent of a program fee, with a maximum  cap of $1000 per family per calendar year. RARA reserves the right to adjust the maximum amount based on funding levels.

Transportation to and from programs/classes and events, as well as any additional  fees associated with the program/class are the responsibility of the scholarship recipient. If your are applying for multiple individuals, an application must be filled out for each person applying for a scholarship.

We understand that the thought of applying for a scholarship can be a significant decision, but we want to reassure you that we're here to help make the process as simple and straightforward as possible. Our aim is to assist eligible residents in accessing recreational programs and activities that can improve their overall health and wellbeing. Therefore, we encourage you to apply for a scholarship if you believe it will help you achieve your goals.

We're committed to providing support and guidance every step of the way, and we welcome any questions or concerns you may have. We firmly believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to participate in recreational programs, and we're excited to work with you towards that goal.
